Friday Fun Fact

Did you know Shakespeare was also an actor and acted in several of his own productions? For Hamlet, he most famously portrayed the Ghost of Old Hamlet against actor James Burbage’s portrayal of Hamlet.

  1. None of my biographies of Shakespeare or reference books even list Tyndale, so I suppose there is no scholarly evidence of a connection. Tyndale died nearly 30 years before Shakespeare was born. While his translation of the Bible was a major part of the later Authorized (King James) version, I can find no evidence that Shakespeare owned or had read a Tyndale Bible. certainly Tyndale’s style of writing was greatly different from Shakespeare’s.
